The Charterhouse
Photographed over several days in May 2025. Using medium format digital to capture the amazing detail.
Over its long history, The Charterhouse has witnessed many of the vents that have shaped our nation. The story begins in 1348 during the Black Death, when the land was used as a burial ground. In 1371, The Charterhouse was built - a Carthusian monastery, which flourished throughout the later medieval and early Tudor period. With the dissolution of the monasteries, The Charterhouse became a Masion for wealthy noblemen and then a charitable foundation, which it remains today.
