Nick Guttridge is an international architectural and interiors photographer with over 20 years experience.

Based in London and Cambridge, Nick works throughout the UK and aboard. His photographs have enduring appeal and have been published widely.

Raised in a family with several generations of architects, Nick studied Product Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art. While at college Nick was interested in interiors and picked up his first camera to document his work. He continued with his passion after graduation. After several years assisting other interior and architectural photographers, Nick started to accept his own commissions. It was a natural transition to serve the architectural, interior and design communities.

Since the early days of his career, when Nick was mastering a 5x4 camera. He has broadened his scope of services to include portrait photography on location. Nick also arranges dance shoots in studios in London.

Some core principles to his approach remain constant, an uncompromising approach to composition and lighting. Also drawing upon some of the training he learnt at college. For example, avoiding collisions of form, or accepting them in the right circumstances. Paying particular attention to how different materials come together and how objects can be positioned for the camera.

In many ways the image is carved out, through precise compositional control and understanding light. A process which is hard to achieve without a monorail camera.

Nick’s collaboration with the dance community started in 2014 when he was commissioned to photograph the new building for Rambert, behind the National Theatre.Through a combination of video and still photography, Nick studies dancers and selects the perfect moments to freeze in time, creating powerful imagery for advertising campaigns.

Shooting moving image has been a natural evolution for Nick who often switches to shooting an important clip of a project, which can be used at a later date in a short film, social media post/reel. Nick completes both portrait reels for social media using a gimbal as well as landscape footage for websites.

If you have a project in mind do reach out. Nick will be delighted to hear from you and often accepts commissions from both large and small companies with different scale of projects.
