Onyx Matcha Club Knightsbridge / Theresa Obermoser Interior Design

Onyx Matcha Club is an intimate matcha bar in Knightsbridge, London, designed by Theresa Obermoser Interior Design for Leonie Hanne.

The interior is centred around a striking monolithic block of green onyx, set against a warm, cream-toned microcement envelope. The restrained material palette creates a calm backdrop for the richly figured stone, while carefully considered details bring character and playfulness to the space.

The colour palette was inspired by an Hermès bag, with an extensive search undertaken to find exactly the right pieces of green onyx. Above, the sculptural Soffi di Cristallo chandelier provides another focal point, introducing delicacy and movement in contrast to the solidity of the stone.

My photography focused on the relationship between these materials, the subtle tonal shifts within the interior and the way light reveals the translucency and natural variation of the onyx.
