Architectural, Interiors, Corporate & Dance Photographer

I am a photographer of the arts, architecture and interior design.

Based in London & Cambridge, I travel the world helping my clients raise their profiles through carefully produced photographs & videography. My aim is to unlock opportunities by creating images which have enduring appeal.

I am listed as one of the top 100 architectural photographers according to loop awards.

I am an expert in lighting which often sets my work apart from my competition. I use creative lighting techniques to enhance my images, whether it is shooting an interior, a corporate portrait or dancers in the studio.

Since 2014 I have collaborated with contemporary dancers (Rambert & Ballet Black) to capture movement with very short shutter speeds and flash durations.

Do get in touch if you have a project in mind. I am always pleased to accept commissions from new practices/companies.

London Architectural & Interiors Photographer

I have been commissioned to photograph a wide range of buildings & interiors and never leave a project until I am satisfied that I have created a collection of images which will help raise my clients profile.

Luxury real estate in London has always been an important market, I work with property developers producing important images which help promote their building, achieving faster and more valuable sales. In a similar way, helping the architects and interiors designers gain recognition and win more commissions.

I particularly enjoy shooting contemporary houses. Working with interior designers & architects to supply magazines with a feature. Finding that balance between architectural photography and interiors photography, I can create formal compositions and supply beautiful macro details which often are the most appreciated images.

I am an expert in shooting museums, art galleries & theatres. For example my work photographing the Sam Wanamaker Theatre at the Shakespeare’s Globe, all under candlelight which was wonderful. Zaha Hadid’s Wilton Gallery at the Science Museum, another highlight. Recently I have photographed the David Zwirner gallery in Mayfair.

Within interior photography I have been documenting the workplace for two decades. Like retail photography, a fast paced sector. I am often showing how the workplace is getting much closer to hospitality and residential design. I have helped my clients win in different categories of the BCO awards.

Photographing schools poses unique challenges. I find myself working around their daily schedules, trying to catch the light and activities as I work through the day. Then suddenly it’s all over. Universities are easier in general, I photographed student accommodation for Kings College, Cambridge designed by Allies & Morrison, designed to passivhaus standards. Including video footage for RIBA award entry.

I have found myself shooting exhibitions, for mobile phone companies. Flying out to Barcelona, getting up early or staying late to shoot the stand without people as well as documenting it in use.

Working within conservation, I am a principle photographer for the Historic Royal Palaces and have accepted commissions from the National Trust. I am trusted to photograph Royal palaces and buildings of national heritage. Often working around priceless furniture & paintings. I do enjoy history and have found myself photographing rarely seen interiors or objects which has been a privilege. I have completed several books on Hampton Court Palace & the Tower of London working with HRP.

I started my career shooting on film, 5x4 transparency. I still use a large format camera with a digital back. The compositional control of a monorail camera is unmatched. I really enjoy shooting on medium format digital with it’s 16 bit colour. The images are beautifully natural with smooth tones from highlights to shadows.

Interior Design Photography

I work with interior designers helping them photograph rooms and creating beautiful details. Often working with interior stylists, I try to convey what it feels like to be within the interior. Capturing the lifestyle, materials, fabrics, textiles, wallpaper & accessories within the image. I particularly enjoy photographing kitchens and bathrooms, often including flowers, artwork and pets to complete a set of images suitable for publication. My images have been widely used by interior magazines worldwide.

Corporate Photography

I have a way of shooting corporate photography which make it seem like it isn’t so corporate. I helping companies produce imagery for annual reports, advertising campaigns. exhibitions and entry to industry awards. After shooting an annual report for the Man Group I was told that the images reflected their brand values. Which was good to hear. I have to tune in quickly to the enviroment around me and also put people at ease. My clients include financial institutions and energy companies. I work internationally, an interesting shoot recently was for the American developer‘Tishman Speyer’. I travelled to their developments around the globe taking a mixture of architectural, interiors and portraits on location.

Dance Photography

Since 2014 I have worked on a personal project to develop myprofessional dance photography in the studio. I’ve collaborated with many amazing dancers from Rambert, Ballet Black and Studio Wayne McGregor. I have also photographed rehearsals in theatres for production and dance companies such as Richard Alston and Inala. I’ve learnt to anticipate the movement of performers to capture their energy, creativity and technique with perfect timing. I use the Leica S medium format system and Profoto lighting to freeze motion at 1/1000th of a second.

Videographer / Motion

Motion is increasingly important, I use sliders, gimbals and drones to create footage which is very versatile. It can be edited for so many different purposes. Shooting in portrait mode for social media accounts is very popular. I can collaborate with sound engineers and video editors to create short films.
